This FAQ blog covers the most common questions about using the Streamlabs Mobile app. From going live to fixing alert issues, we've got you covered.
Jump Ahead:
Basics
How do I go live using the Streamlabs Mobile app?
Press the “Go Live” button in the bottom middle of the screen.
Why am I getting an "Invalid Credentials" error when logging in with YouTube?
“Invalid Credentials” error occurs when the channel you are using is not enabled for live streaming on YouTube. Please verify your YouTube channel and wait 24 hours and try again.
Android: If trying to log into a YouTube Brand account, this is restricted by Android OS—you would need to log in using a Streamlabs ID.
If you are seeing an error not mentioned above when logging in with a platform, please try using a Streamlabs ID connected to that platform instead to login.
How do I add a camera to my mobile live stream?
Go to Streaming Settings > Scenes and click on Layers. Add a Camera layer. Depending on your device, you may be able to add a front and back camera layer.
How do I stream my screen using the Streamlabs Mobile app?
On Android: Go to Streaming Settings > Scenes and click on Layers. Add a Screen Share layer.
On iOS: Hit the Go Live button on the main screen then choose Screenshare when asked if you want to share your camera or screen.
How do I stream to a platform that isn’t listed in the app?
Add a custom (RTMP) destination by clicking Main Menu > Account Settings and add a Other (Custom RTMP) destination. See this RTMP guide for detailed instructions:
Note: Custom RTMP does not support alerts, chat or widgets.
Audio:
Why can’t I hear my alert sounds?
If you’re not hearing alert sounds, make sure you’re using the right file type for your device.
iOS: only works with AAC, MP3 or WAV alert audio files
Android: can run WAV, MP3, AAC, OGG alert audio files
Why isn’t Text-to-Speech (TTS) working?
iOS: In your Alertbox settings, ensure the TTS voice option is set to a legacy voice, which is a non-named voice, such as English, Spanish, French.
Android: In your Alertbox settings, ensure that the TTS voice option is set to a named voice, such as “Justin”, “Joey”, or “Ivy”.
Why can’t I hear my mic audio on stream?
Start by making sure your mic isn’t muted. Also, make sure that another app isn’t using your microphone.
If you’re using an external microphone or headset with a built-in mic, make sure it’s compatible with your device. Most 3.5mm jack mics will work if your phone has this option, however Bluetooth mics, external microphones, and headphones may not work depending on your phone’s capabilities.
Why isn’t my game audio coming through on stream?
iOS: Ensure that your phone speakers can be picked up by your phone microphone. Using headphones will block the phone mic from picking up the game audio—please disconnect them.
Android: Go to Main Menu ☰ > Streaming Settings > Audio Settings and add an Internal Audio source. This will allow for your game audio to be picked up.

Why aren’t my alerts showing on screen during screen capture?
Alerts won’t appear as overlays on your device screen during screen capture—they only show up on your live stream and within the Streamlabs app. This is because the app runs in the background while screen sharing and can’t render visuals over other apps.
Make sure your alerts are set to “Show on Stream”—if set to “Show on Preview”, they’ll only be visible to you.
Note for iOS users: Due to Apple’s resource limits on broadcast extensions, widgets are disabled during screen broadcasting to prevent the app from crashing. We’re currently working on a push notification system to allow alerts to appear over other apps.
Why doesn’t my stream run at 60 FPS even though I selected it?
For Android: FPS is controlled by your camera’s hardware and Android’s system settings. While we support 60 FPS whenever we can, manufacturers may design their camera apps to bypass Android’s limitations and allow higher FPS. Unfortunately, we don’t have access to this workaround. As a result, the max FPS may be limited to 30 when using apps like ours.
For iOS: iOS should by default be 60 FPS. Check your device settings to make sure you didn’t change to 30 FPS.
Why is there a delay between my stream and what my viewers see?
Your connection manages the data sent to the streaming platform, and delays are normal when streaming. It can be caused by your connection strength, distance to the streaming server, and built-in platform delays. Additional lag can come from video processing steps like ingest, transcoding, and content delivery networks (CDNs), plus buffering on the viewer’s device.
While some delay is expected, optimizing your internet connection and choosing nearby servers can help reduce it.
Why is my stream lagging even though my device connection seems fine?
Even with a strong connection, lag can still happen due to factors like device limitations, distance to the streaming server, or temporary network instability. If your connection drops frames while sending data to the server, viewers may see stuttering or buffering during your stream.
Why isn’t my external camera working with Streamlabs Mobile?
Every external camera works differently. Some cameras, like a GoPro, are designed to work specifically with their own app. Unlike internal cameras on your device, there is no universal way to use external cameras across all applications.
We are looking into creating a list of supported devices.
Miscellaneous:
Why did my recent events stop showing in Streamlabs Mobile?
Go to your recent events here and confirm if you can see your events from Streamlabs Dashboard.
If you cannot see your events on Streamlabs Mobile but can see them on Streamlabs Dashboard, there may be an issue with your login. Please log out of the mobile app and back in, then wait for new events to come through.
Why isn’t my alert message text showing on stream?
Check your alert settings under each category to ensure your alert message text has the right template.
Why aren’t my alert videos showing up on stream?
iOS doesn’t support the WEBM video format. If your alert file is in WEBM, it may appear as a black box or not play at all. iOS is compatible with GIF, MP4, JPG, or PNG files.
